Chorgota Beach

The beach became famous through the movie “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin” with the name “Pelagia Beach”. The beach was used in the film poster and in the first scene of the movie.

You will find the beach going from Komitata to Agia Sofia. The road is paved until the intersection for Chorgota (to your right, about 6.5km from Komitata, in the middle of a small straight), then continues an unpaved road for only 900 meters.

The Chorgota is paved with pebbles and has clear waters. It is not an organized beach. From the beach you have a very good view of Ithaca.
